After flying F5J gliders for a while, I needed to see where the flight paths were but didn't have the available tech at the time to record and file away data for future analysis. That was a long time ago, and now with all the great tools Google Earth has, its wonderful to see the telemetry being transposed into a method that can greatly enhance flying styles. Now you can watch the flight path and determine where thermal hotspots are dominant in you flying fields, and also determine your flying skills and where requirements for more efficient thermalling techniques are needed.

Trying to remember your flights visually and where you need to make notes of specific flight modes is almost impossible, though with software you can now catalogue every flight for further analysis. There had to be a way so I started looking for ways to translate Futaba CSV files using various online converters of which there are very few that will do the job easily. There was just way too much data entry needed to get something even very basic. Fed up with spending hours to see GE coordinates, I started working on an alternative that should be extremely simple.

CSV to KML is a software program that makes data conversion simple and straightforward. I know that turning your CSV data into KML format can be a hassle. More transmitters are appearing on the market that now support telemetry but some do not support exporting spreadsheet formats, unfortunately. Future plans are to provide GE interfacing with other brands of transmitters, but this requires CSV capable formats, where the conversion requires proprietary software.
